Drug Seizure Industry Stats
Drug Seizure Industry Stats
In 2024, U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized over 573,000 pounds of illicit drugs. Traditionally, these substances would be scheduled for incineration to ensure their destruction and prevent their return to the streets. However, growing concerns about the environmental and health hazards posed by the emissions from incineration, especially to law enforcement personnel and nearby communities, highlighted the need to rethink how large-scale drug destruction was performed.
Enter ServiceMaster BioClean. Building on our proven expertise in handling and neutralizing illicit substances, we are equipped and ready to manage drug destruction at any scale. We do so safely and effectively so that both law enforcement and the public are protected.
The Drug Destruction Process
Inventory & Documentation
Each item scheduled for destruction is meticulously inventoried, weighed, and documented using our chain of custody form. Both ServiceMaster BioClean and the client confirm and sign off on all recorded data to ensure full transparency and accountability.
Containment & Safety Measures
ServiceMaster BioClean establishes a secure containment area to house illicit substances prior to destruction, ensuring a controlled and safe environment. All materials designated for destruction are carefully placed inside the containment area by our trained professionals.

Drug Destruction
Drugs are introduced into a liquid solution on-site, using either a shredder or manual processing to ensure complete neutralization. This solution immediately renders Schedule 1-5 drugs non-retrievable and inert. The solution is stored in a secured storage container.
Post-Destruction Cleanup
After the completion of the destruction, we work meticulously to get the location back to its pre-work condition. We begin by cleaning, then sweeping, and eventually hosing down to make sure that we have thoroughly restored the location.

Final Disposal
Once the substances have been properly neutralized, they are now ready for transportation. We work in full accordance with all state and federal regulations to ensure that the final disposal is compliant and ready. This process ensures the safe and responsible handling by our team of trained professionals since keeping you protected is our number one priority.
